The Department of Driver Services’ New Customer Service Center in Hazelhurst, Georgia, will showcase a blend of modern and innovative architectural design with traditional building forms.
PSI Architecture & Engineering recently completed the construction documents for the New Customer Service Center, which is currently awaiting general contractor procurement. Even with a traditional building form, the building will stand out with its sleek and elegant exterior materials, utilizing a combination of smooth-textured brick, composite metal, glass storefront, and custom aluminum canopies to create a contemporary look. Large windows allow abundant natural light to illuminate the interiors, creating an open and inviting space for the public and staff.
Inside, the layout of the building will be functional and efficient. The main queuing area for the public will allow space for an efficient flow of visitors with driver services’ needs. Dedicated areas for self-service and testing will be available, as well as issuance stations and offices for the staff. The barrier-free design will be celebrated throughout the facility, especially at public and staff entrances and restrooms. A large set of clerestory windows along the roof line will allow natural light to flood the interior of the queuing area, a visual impact for the public to experience. The Department of Driver Services’ site will also incorporate several unique features.
